Sitzt das Yoga Outfit?

Does the yoga outfit fit?

Generally speaking, comfortable clothing made from breathable materials is well suited. Of course, what you should pay attention to in detail also depends on the yoga class that lies ahead of you. After all, not all yoga is the same - and the ideal outfit for a yin yoga class will look different to that for a kundalini session. Nevertheless, a yoga class is not a fashion show, the mat is not a catwalk. Of course you can go through the asanas in a T-shirt and jogging bottoms if that's how you feel - no question about it! However, a shirt that is too loose can get in the way or trousers that are cut a little too comfortably can slip. It's annoying to have to adjust them. To prevent this, you should choose an outfit that suits you. These tips will help you choose the right yoga outfit.

1. are harem trousers still in?

The perfect yoga leggings should never pinch or cut in. Trousers designed specifically for yoga are therefore a good choice. Yoga pants or yoga leggings flatter your body best and are elasticated enough to take part in every asana. The materials are selected in such a way that yoga pants do not wear out even under heavy use, but retain their shape. If you don't like leggings, harem trousers can be a good alternative. Tight-fitting cuffs ensure that the trouser legs do not ride up.

2 It's all about the right materials

Pure cotton is not so suitable for your yoga outfit as it is relatively inflexible and the garments tend to wear out quickly. Sports or yoga clothing with elastane is more suitable. They adapt perfectly to the body and your movements. Instead of wearing out, the yoga outfit retains its shape over many asanas. Clothing made from functional fibres also draws perspiration away from the skin so that you feel dry throughout your yoga practice and don't get cold.

2. t-shirt, sports bra - the choice is yours

Wide-cut T-shirts or tops are suitable as tops. If you are reluctant to pull your stomach in all the time, pay attention to the length of the top, especially for exercises where you raise your arms above your head. Depending on your breast size, a well-fitting bra is also very important. Yoga tops often come with an integrated bra, but you can also buy the bra and top separately. The bra should be comfortable, not slip and provide reliable support for the bust without constricting.

3. slouchy or tight - that is the question here

The ideal yoga clothing should not be so tight that it restricts your body. But even a loose-fitting outfit can be a challenge during various yoga exercises. Sleeves and trouser legs slip quickly, especially during inversion poses. Yoga clothing should therefore fit comfortably, not restrict your freedom of movement and at the same time not slip. Good yoga clothing adapts to your body and supports you in every asana.

4 What about a little colour?

Yoga outfits are now available in a wide variety of designs: monochrome, floral patterned, multicoloured, e.g. with colour gradients, batik design. The colour of clothing can play an important role, especially in traditional yoga. Some yoga studios have a dress code depending on the style of yoga - it's best to ask! Incidentally, wearing all-white clothing in yoga should help you to stay completely with yourself. White is also said to have a pure and positive effect.

5. is the layered look useful for yoga?

The layered look makes perfect sense for yoga, as mobility and relaxation often alternate. A thin jumper or cardigan can be a warming companion for the final relaxation. After all, you should be relaxing instead of freezing on your yoga mat.

6. footwear - yes or no?

When considering what clothing is suitable for yoga, footwear is also an important factor. Yoga socks or shoes specially designed for yoga are a good choice if you don't want to practise barefoot. This is because your feet need to remain mobile and flexible during yoga - this is not possible with trainers. Yoga socks or shoes must also provide sufficient support so that you don't slip during the asanas. However, there is no reason not to practise yoga barefoot. On the contrary: it strengthens the foot muscles and your feet will enjoy some time out without shoes.

7 Finally, the men!

Enough about us women - but what do the men of creation actually wear for yoga? Basically, there's nothing to stop men from reaching for yoga leggings and benefiting from their numerous advantages. Yoga pants specially designed for men are the right choice. If you feel uncomfortable in leggings, you can opt for sports shorts with elastane or harem pants instead. Airy, breathable T-shirts and tank tops are suitable as tops.

Have fun shopping!
